Sleep Country Wandering
Caution: might contain typos. Unedited text.
I’m courrently finishing the last editing pass, my pass, before sending the manuscript to Sam.
This week I’m focused on testing/fine tuning the Districts generation tables. Here are a few rolls for Sleep Coountry.
Each location counts three rolls, for respectively: Dude, Location, Scene.
I’m not adding anything, just using rolls.
First roll - Fight in storage box
Dice Breakdown
- DUDE Roll:
[2, 3, 4](Sum: 9) - LOCATION Roll:
[5, 5, 6](Sum: 16) - SCENE Roll:
[6, 6, 4](Sum: 16)
1. DUDE: Video game designer
- Quirk (Sum of 2 lowest = 5): Arm and leg in cast.
- Mood (Sum of 2 highest = 7 ): SILENT Wave “NO” signs with the head.
- Moves:
- Explain everything is just a simulation, including you
- Do the Church of Code secret hand signal way too ostensibly
- Beg you annoyingly to livetest their current project
- Gear: Weed, Laptop, Floppy disk containing a
platform runner game featuring the End of Everything mega tide(Lowest die = 2)
2. LOCATION: Self-storage center
3. SCENE
BFFR is prepping an improvised clash circle, delimited by foldable chairs and clothesline. The Hare watches in the distance, from within a red car.
- SCENE ACTIVE TRIGGERS:
- Doubles (
6, 6): Something or someone is on fire. - Two 6s (
6, 6): A white owl crosses paths with you.
- Doubles (
The Clash Circle is probably improvised in the facililty parking lot (because the Hare, the BFFR leader is watching from a car). I guess the BFFR folks have probably improvised a clash circle next to the clash circle. I’d have the owl cross path with the players as the approach the facility. Not a good omen right?
Second roll - angry plumber getting manicured
Dice Breakdown
- DUDE Roll:
[1, 2, 4](Sum: 7) - LOCATION Roll:
[1, 3, 4](Sum: 8) - SCENE Roll:
[5, 5, 5](Sum: 15)
1. DUDE: Plumber
- Quirk (Sum of 2 lowest = 3): Picks nose for excruciatingly long time.
- Mood (Sum of 2 highest = 6): Wary. “Why are you following me? I saw you at the TransDistric road crossing.”
- Moves:
- Complain about bad clients
- Know a basement boiler room somewhere deep in Sleep Country that leads to the World Below
- Play harmonica
- Gear: Smokes, Tool belt, Harmonica.
2. LOCATION: Old canal.
3. SCENE
Someone is getting their nails painted. Looks beautiful and shiny. Roll 1d6. On even nails are painted with religious motifs portraying the assembly of immortals in the Dome. On odd nails display a miniature storyboard of something that happened to you and only you can know. What is it?
- SCENE ACTIVE TRIGGERS:
- Doubles (
5, 5): Something or someone is on fire. - Triples (
5, 5, 5): Tremors shake the ground.
- Doubles (
4. Notes
This one is so good, I imagine the plumber is getting their nails painted, at the bottom of the canal, where a lady has a small imrovised “nail bar”. Just a couple of chairs. I like the tremors, wich tie with something larrger happening in the district. Again something is on fire, kiind of twiting this one, the nail arrtist is burning a large balck candle on her table.
Last roll - a suburban classic
Dice Breakdown
- DUDE Roll:
[1, 1, 4](Sum: 6) - LOCATION Roll:
[3, 4, 6](Sum: 13) - SCENE Roll:
[1, 4, 4](Sum: 9)
1. DUDE: Bored teens (4 teens)
- Quirk (Sum of 2 lowest = 2): Broken front tooth.
- Mood (Sum of 2 highest = 5): Thirsty. “I keep drinking, you know, but I feel thirsty no matter how much I swallow. Do you have mint soda?”
- Moves:
- Splash soda at each other and laugh
- Call you a decrepit schmuck
- Feed fries at puppies
- Gear: Portable console, XL soda bottle, Puppies.
2. LOCATION: Barren soil.
3. SCENE
A Bayer is doing wheelies with a scooter. Roll 1d6: on even they plunge in a nearby inflatable pool, scooter and driver are safe, pool is wasted. On odd scooter crashes, leg breaks. “I got distracted!” Who’s to blame?
- SCENE ACTIVE TRIGGERS:
- Doubles (
4, 4): Something or someone is on fire.
- Doubles (
4. Notes
This one looks like a classic.
I guess the guy crashing with the scooter is one of the bored teens. The scooter is on fire
The scene triggers (Doubles of any #, Triple of any #, Doubles 6s) which arre supposed to be additional random gravy on top of the roll occur too oftten (I didn’t properly the probabilities and just eyballed them, they need a little tweaking)
